I am saddened to hear today that Dave Stevens, the creator of The Rocketeer has passed away at age 52. If you want to read more about his passing, click here. I've met Dave Stevens twice at various Wondercon conventions he attended in the artists alley. He was a very nice man. I love his glamour girl artwork but it was The Rocketeer that I am a huge fan of. He graciously signed The Rocketeer adv 1-sheet poster for me which I had in my collection since the movie opened. He spoke about the frustrations bringing the comic book to the big screen and how eventually Disney made it a different movie. The Rocketeer wasn't a huge success but it is still one of my favorite movies. He drew me a small head sketch and signed a number of comic books for me. Thanks for your kindness and may you rest in peace.

In 2002, they made a remake to the classic David Lean's Doctor Zhivago. The original movie features the classic theme by Maurice Jarre. The remake features music by Ludovico Einaudi. Listen, compare and you decide which is better.

Klaus Badelt was on a roll with scoring excellent film music. While Time Machine and Pirates of the Caribbean scores were released, Basic wasn't. It features some of the best action cues that year.

More cockroaches but no Mira Sorvino! Here is the score to Mimic 2, the sequel to Mimic. While the 1st movie was scored by Marco Beltrami, he did not return for the lesser produced sequel. Walter Werzowa provides the score.

Back in 2003, there were a bunch of short films made by BMW to promote their Z3 and other ultimate driving machines. It features short films released only on the internet and made by the hottest talents in Hollywood. It features then unknown, Clive Owen as the Driver. With guest stars galore: Adriana Lima, Mickey Rourke, Forest Whitaker, Gary Oldman, James Brown, Marilyn Manson, Danny Trejo, Don Cheadle, F. Murray Abraham, Dennis Haysbert, Ray Liotta, Robert Patrick!

But what a shame there is no real score soundtrack! All there is for now is a DVD rip with SFX -- unless someone has it to share ;). But hey, it's better than nothing! Features music by Klaus Badelt, Harry Gregson-Williams, Jeff Rona, Clint Mansell, Steve Jablonsky, Mychael Danna.

Autobots To The Rescue (mp3)

Let me start off saying, Hong Kong movies have some of the best theme score songs around. You can beat those composers for writing melody driven themes. For example, who can forget A Better Tomorrow theme everytime Chow Yun-Fat walks out gun-blazing or Stephen Chow's theme in his comedies.

Gun & Rose starring Alan Tang, Leon Lai and Andy Lau is a movie which I really enjoyed back in the early 90's and it features a slam bang theme. I don't know who composed it but it's catchy. It's a shame you won't find this soundtrack anywhere.
